I’m an education consultant with deep expertise in the admissions process for parochial schools in NYC. I meet extensively with parochial admissions directors and connect with and tour schools, so have a strong familiarity with application procedures and knowledge of how admissions operate at specific institutions.

I’m uniquely positioned because while I am very familiar with the culture and amenities offered by parochial schools, my additional experience as a parent in NYC public schools allows me to help families decode the differences between the two systems.

My background as a journalist trained me to ask hard questions and get real answers about education, and to seek clarification around nuanced admissions processes and policies. I was on Dominican Academy’s parent committee for its accreditation process with the NY State Association of Independent Schools; I led parent associations at MS54/Booker T Washington and the Bronx High School of Science; I was VP Communications at PS87; and I represented MS54 on District 3’s Community Education Council.

My experience, contacts and broad perspective will help you navigate options, anticipate steps and make good decisions during the admissions process.

Bio

I grew up in an education family in Decatur, GA. I started off in public high school and transferred to Catholic, then attended Georgetown for a BA in American Studies and Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism for a BS. I co-founded Book: The Magazine for the Reading Life and developed VNU’s first-ever all-digital product, TheBookStandard.com, in partnership with Nielsen BookScan. I launched the documentary-arts review platform DocumentaryNotes.com. Simultaneously, I held leadership, communications, marketing, and community-building roles at my kids’ four schools.
